Typical
flight sequence :- full power to about 150 ft, then
throttle back to 1/2 or 1/3. Pico stick will maintain height on 1/3
throttle or less, throttle off, prop freewheel now cuts in and we
have even gained height by using thermals as we did on the 52 minute
flight.
1/2 hour flight is comfortably attainable without thermal assistance,
our best so far is 45 minutes with power on and prop freewheels on
descent. And glide is greatly improved with prop freewheeling. |

Comparison
picture
On the left is the 800 Lithium cell, with the 800 Nicad along side
it, just to show the size difference between them. |
Chargers
For Lithium cells cost at the moment £28.50 to £32.oo,
to charge 1 or 2 cells automatically no settings or adjustments to
make, just connect to 12 volt supply, then to cell or cells, unit
selects and bleeps, red LED comes on when charge complete, no trickle
charge required, although you can "top up" between flights.
But with the flight times we've had why bother, for a normal club
flying session, we charge at home and get 6 or 7 --- 6 minute flights. |
